Interpreter Duties and Responsibilities
An Interpreter position carries the responsibility of conveying another individual’s thoughts and intentions. The interpretation itself has to be exactly what the person is saying, the Interpreter has to discern how the message is meant to be received while maintaining the integrity of the conversation. Interpreters are expected to:
- Interpret a message or request clearly and accurately, conveying phrasing and intention as it relates to the subject
- Convert dialogue and convey the intent of the original speaker, understanding the language and slang terms that do not translate in a literal way between languages
- Have outstanding listening, retention and note-taking skills. Honor outlined ethical codes to ensure sensitive and confidential information remains secure and protected
- Proficient understanding of cultural sensitivity, and ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Establish Positive Interactions
Requirements:
- Proficiency in English (B2, C1, C2) and Verbal fluency in both English and Spanish
- Strong understanding of written and oral communication
- Interpersonal skills
- Full-time availability
- You own equipment and stable internet connection
Preferred:
- +1 year of experience as an OPI/VRI in another call center
Minimum requirements for experienced medical interpreter jobs includes knowledge of medical terminology, ethics, intercultural communication, and interpreting fundamentals.
